Equine strangles – exploring the realities of this common disease
with Roxane Kirton and Sara Jerman
The webinar was an opportunity to learn about strangles from equine vet Roxane Kirton, and Sara Jerman, Assistant Manager of World Horse Welfare’s Glenda Spooner Farm.
Just the mention of strangles can strike fear into the hearts of many horse owners, and the stigma associated with the disease can cause people to cover it up when it is diagnosed. But this just leads to more suffering for both horses and owners. Instead, with more knowledge, more openness, and less stigma, we could all work together to protect our horses and reduce the spread of this common infectious disease. And that is what this webinar is all about – helping everybody to learn more about strangles.
Our speakers cover:
- The signs of strangles
- What to do if you suspect a horse has strangles
- How to manage strangles
- How to identify and treat horses that are strangles carriers
- How to minimise the risk of your horse catching strangles
