Our fifth winter webinar series will kick off this October with Paralympic experiences: the horses’ perspective.

Six-time Paralympic champion dressage rider Natasha Baker and BEF Para Dressage performance manager, Georgina Sharples will be sharing their thoughts on what a ‘good life’ for an equine athlete looks like, in the first of our annual webinar series.

Chaired by our Chief Executive, Roly Owers, the event is part of a series of truly unique online evenings in which leading experts discuss hot topics around equine welfare.

“With the welfare of dressage and sport horses very much in the spotlight we will talk about how the paralympic team manage their equine athletes, with an emphasis on what a good life for them should look like.

“We think our first session is likely to be popular and hope it sets the scene for our future webinars as World Horse Welfare continue to encourage debate around how to provide the best care for horses in equestrian sport.

“We are of course, delighted to be joined by decorated Paralympian, Natasha Baker and BEF Para Dressage Performance Manager, Georgina Sharples who will be discussing their experiences of this summer’s games in Paris. Together we will be reflecting on the team’s success, but crucially looking at the event from the horse’s perspective – from preparing them to perform on the world stage to their management during the games.

“We are all in for a great evening, and we hope many of you can join us to kick-off this year’s Welfare Wednesday Webinar series.”

Roly Owers

Roly will lead the structured discussion before online audiences have the opportunity to ‘ask the expert’ any questions they may have on this important topic during a live Q&A session.

This hugely popular series offers free, practical advice and guidance for everyone – from those just starting on a journey with their horse to industry professionals. Each webinar features one or more expert guests and runs from October through to March. A host of topics will be explored in this forthcoming series, including nutrition, environmental sustainability, colic, co-operative care and horse mental wellbeing.

All of our previous webinars – which have covered subjects as fascinating and diverse as keeping horses fit, weight management, euthanasia, biosecurity, and travelling – are available to watch on our advice website pages.

By registering for the webinars through Zoom, you will be able to take part in the various polls, ask questions during the Q&A and enjoy an interactive experience.
