Are you looking for a running challenge to fundraise for World Horse Welfare but you’re not quite ready for a full marathon? Then how about running a half marathon?
The Manchester half marathon sees runners take on generous, closed roads across the towns of Old Trafford, Stretford and Brooklands, with the promise of great support and an abundance of entertainment en route.
This a very flat course, perfect for smashing personal bests but also the ideal route for those new to half marathons and charity runners. There is a lovely 2-mile flat finish that brings you to the conclusion of the event at Emirates Old Trafford Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Placed around six months apart from the ultimate fundraiser’s race, The London Marathon, it can act as an ideal training run.
Registration fee: £50
Suggested Fundraising Target: £500
Why raise funds for World Horse Welfare?
If you choose to raise funds for World Horse Welfare, you’ll be helping horses to live better lives around the world. As an international equine welfare charity, we strive to improve the horse-human relationship in all of its guises. We help horses in need, horses in sport and leisure, and horses used in work and production. By working with owners, communities, organisations, institutions and governments, we have a track record of improving welfare standards and stamping out suffering in the UK and worldwide through hands-on care, research, education and influence.
We run the UK’s largest equine rescue and rehoming scheme and, on average, we take in more than 300 horses and ponies each year and aim to find them loving new homes after their expert rehabilitation. We also help to improve the lives of tens of thousands of working horses, mules, and donkeys – and the families who rely on them for their livelihoods – through our international programmes which work with local partner organisations and horse owning communities in 17 countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
By fundraising for us, you’ll be helping horses who need it most in the UK or further afield. Thank you so much for considering supporting this vital work.
